Hydroalp operates as an EPC contractor for the development of synthetic natural gas (SNG) production plants.
Thanks to the exclusive rights granted for KHIMOD technologies in Italy, Hydroalp offers a comprehensive package that combines project coordination and execution with proprietary technology.
Synthetic natural gas (SNG)—also known as synthetic methane or e-methane—is chemically identical to fossil methane (CH₄) but is produced from low-emission resources. SNG is generated through methanation (Sabatier reaction) using green hydrogen and captured CO₂, or from syngas composed of CO, CO₂, and H₂. Like fossil natural gas, SNG features high energy density, is easily storable, and is fully compatible with existing infrastructure, such as pipelines and LNG terminals.
SNG represents a strategic solution for decarbonization, enabling heavy industry, energy-intensive sectors, and gas distribution networks to transition away from fossil gas without major infrastructure changes.
